13 Questions with R. David McCallum, M.D.

April 3, 2015
Authored by Sara Brandon

Dr. R. David McCallum says he’s kinda shy, which may be why he shared with me there’s actually another set of answers to the questions below. (Sorry, I didn’t get all those answers; just "Frozen" and "black." See what you can find out and let me know.)

I did discover that Dr. McCallum likes to travel (throughout Europe, South America, Asia), he’s a real foodie and wine collector (been to Napa Valley about “3 billion times” but also likes a good French) and is into artwork and glassware (all periods of art but more modern forms of glass).

Despite his love of a good Bolognese, he’s managed to lose 30 pounds this last year (be sure to throw him a compliment) and is focused on more exercise and getting outdoors. Dr. McCallum also admitted that he’s the baby in the family with two brothers and two sisters, who he shared his favorite childhood adventures with traveling cross county every summer with his family exploring the best places of the United States.

What I didn’t find out (besides the alternative 13 answers) is: What does “R” stand for? How is it he became a surgeon? Get the answers to those questions when you’re asking about the others, okay?

In the meantime, read on for other interesting insights about general surgeon R. David McCallum, MD...

No pets anymore; Elvis the black and white domestic cat was my last pet.

    Going to Peru
  9. What’s your “go-to” comfort food?
    Really good pasta dish
  10. Smartphone, tablet or desktop?
    All three, mostly Apple products
  11. People would be surprised to know that I:
    Live here in Putnam.
