Our hematology/oncology unit at the Rose Bove LaRose Cancer Center at Day Kimball Hospital provides compassionate, first-class cancer care right here in northeast Connecticut. And our Cancer Care program, which has received national accreditation with commendations from the Commission on Cancer (CoC), provides patients the same care as large centers, but close to home.

Our caring and skilled staff includes highly esteemed, board-certified hematologist/oncologists from Eastern Connecticut Hematology & Oncology Associates, along with our team of certified oncology nurses, a nurse navigator to help guide you through the treatment process, a board certified oncology nutritionist, a social worker dedicated exclusively to assisting cancer patients, and medical assistants, pharmacy staff and patient service representatives – all working together to provide the best possible care in a comfortable and compassionate environment that’s close to home.

We provide treatment for a variety of cancers including, but not limited to:

  • breast cancer
  • colon cancer and other cancers of the digestive tract
  • lung cancer
  • lymphoma
  • prostate cancer and other genitourinary cancers

Our hematology/oncology services include:

  • inpatient and outpatient chemotherapy
  • biotherapy
  • transfusions
  • iron infusions
  • injections
  • participation in clinical trials

Our Cancer Center is designed to offer as comfortable an experience as possible while you receive treatments, and your friends and family are welcome to sit with you in the treatment area as space permits. When you arrive in the Cancer Center, a nurse will review your test results and doctor’s orders with you. The nurse will also ask you questions about how you are feeling and whether you are experiencing any problems. Your medication will then be prepared for your treatment. Please note that medication cannot be mixed before your arrival because we must first check your blood counts. These results may affect whether you receive the treatment or an altered dose. The pharmacy at Day Kimball Hospital supports the mixing of all medications, and works with your doctor and nurses to ensure quality care.

Billing and Payment Information

You will be offered the opportunity to speak with a Day Kimball Healthcare financial counselor on your first visit to the Cancer Center; he or she can assist you with billing questions and insurance needs at that time. Billing for cancer care will be submitted to your insurance carrier by more than one party; physician consultations from Eastern Connecticut Hematology and Oncology Associates, and Day Kimball Hospital for facility services. If you need help paying for care, please ask the financial counselor how we can help you access the assistance that is best for you.
