A Willed Gift Leaves a Legacy for a Local Couple: The Gift of Marie Lillibridge
November 6, 2015
Authored by Pamela Watts, DKH Development Director
Marie Lillibridge of Woodstock was married to her husband Robert for 22 years. She worked for Smith Mechanical of Webster as a bookkeeper and was a long-time employee of Rawley Plumbing in Putnam.
In their leisure time, Mr. and Mrs. Lillibridge traveled all over the world together. Following her husband’s untimely death, she continued traveling. She also spent hours laughing with her many friends, playing bingo, knitting and lavishing attention on her cat, “Coozie Marie.”
In 2011, Mrs. Lillibridge lost her battle with brain cancer at the age of 68. In her will, she left a gift to benefit the whole community: a bequest of $10,000 to Day Kimball Hospital, “…to be used for general purpose” in her memory and that of her late husband, Robert H. Lillibridge.
Though Mrs. Lillibridge and her husband are now gone, her forethought in providing a caring gift to the community now helps their memory to live on.
