Day Kimball Healthcare Celebrates New Name and Location for In-Home Care Services
May 25, 2017
Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH) officially opened the new central location for all of its in-home care services at 32 South Main Street in Putnam during a ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce on May 24. It was also announced at the event that all three of DKH’s in-home services – Day Kimball HomeCare, Day Kimball HomeMakers and Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Connecticut – will now be co-branded together under the umbrella of “Day Kimball Healthcare at Home.”
Formerly the location of just Day Kimball HomeMakers, DKH has taken over additional space in the building and made renovations to accommodate all three of its in-home care services in one space. Together, the three services provide a complete continuum of in-home care services.
Day Kimball HomeCare provides clinical care for those patients who require medical care at home; Day Kimball HomeMakers provides personal care and homemaking services from weekly visits to 24/7 care, which helps people to remain safe and healthy in their own homes; and Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Connecticut provides care and support to improve the quality of life for patients facing serious or terminal illnesses.
“This new central location will allow for improved efficiency and coordination of care for patients and families served through all three of these agencies,” said DKH President and CEO Joseph Adiletta.
Commenting on DKH’s recent community partnership with Yale New Haven Health and the quality of care that partnership signifies, Adiletta continued, “We’re very proud of the quality of care we provide across the entire Day Kimball system, and our in-home care services are certainly no exception. Our HomeCare, HomeMakers and Hospice and Palliative Care staff are a very special group of caring, compassionate and dedicated individuals who provide critical services that help to keep people healthy and comfortable in their own homes. We’re grateful to the community for their support in helping us to provide these services to those in need and we’re very glad to have been able to bring all of them together in this new space for the care of those we serve.”
Day Kimball Healthcare at Home Executive Director Renee Smith, who has worked in the field of in-home care in the region for more than 20 years, commented on the history and impact of the services in the local community over the course of its more than 100 years.
“Many of you might remember this building used to be many other things before becoming our new location for Day Kimball Healthcare at Home. Well, many years ago it was actually the original home of the VNA of Putnam, which was the precursor to our current Day Kimball HomeCare – so we’ve truly come full circle; we’ve come home again ourselves,” Smith said.
“I’m so proud of this team and what they accomplish for people every day, the compassionate service they’ve provided for people in our community for decades, and the quality measures they continue to earn that set our service apart from others. We work hard for our patients, we are truly dedicated to them, and it’s wonderful to have the support and dedication of our Day Kimball Board of Directors and the community in return to allow us to make this new location a reality,” Smith concluded.
