DKH to Move Walk-In Services from Plainfield to Dayville; New Service Only Open to Existing Day Kimball Medical Group Primary Care Patients
August 5, 2015
All Other Services at Day Kimball Healthcare Center in Plainfield Remain Unchanged
[Updated 9/9/2015]
Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH) today announced that it will be moving walk-in services currently located at its Healthcare Center in Plainfield to the
Day Kimball Healthcare Center in Dayville. In addition, after the move, walk-in services will only be open to current patients of
Day Kimball Medical Group (DKMG) primary care practices.
The last day of operation for the walk-in center in Plainfield is Sunday, August 30, 2015. Beginning on Monday, September 14, 2015, current DKMG primary care patients will have access to a new after-hours care service at the Day Kimball Healthcare Center in Dayville, enabling them to see a healthcare practitioner without an appointment on weekday evenings from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Same-day sick appointments will also continue to be available to current patients at all Day Kimball Medical Group primary care offices during regular weekday office hours.
“We are making this move after careful examination of patient activity patterns at the walk-in center in Plainfield, which show that the majority of our walk-in service users are from the more northern towns of Killingly, Brooklyn and Putnam,” said Robert Smanik, FACHE, DKH president and chief executive officer. “By moving the service to Dayville we can provide closer, more convenient access to walk-in care for those patients who use our services most.”
Smanik explained that limiting walk-in service only to current patients of DKMG primary care practices will also allow for improved continuity of care between the walk-in visit and subsequent follow-up care by the DKMG primary care providers.
All other services offered at the Day Kimball Healthcare Center in Plainfield will continue as usual, including:
internal medicine,
pediatric and
OB/GYN practices,
blood draw,
diagnostic imaging,
physical therapy,
occupational therapy,
speech-language pathology,
anticoagulation clinic and
cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.
