Carbon monoxide (CO) gas is known as the "silent killer" because it is colorless, odorless - and poisonous. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission, an average of 150 people die from carbon monoxide poisoning every year, and many more are sickened. Exposure occurs when the gas leaks from fuel-burning appliances such as furnaces, generators, stoves, water heaters and fire places.
It's important to know the sources of carbon monoxide, the signs and symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, what to do if you suspect a leak, and how to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning from hurting you and your family.
