The Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) houses a number of departments and functions related to surgical care, as well as our Wound Care Clinic.
The caring staff in our Ambulatory Care Unit (ACU) facilitate surgeries and endoscopic procedures (such as colonoscopies) comfortably and efficiently. The ACU is where patients are prepared for their surgery or procedure. The unit also offers a comfortable waiting area and amenities for family and friends.
Surgeries are performed in our Brousseau Surgical Suite, which includes four operating rooms equipped with the latest technologies.
Endoscopic procedures are performed in our Doris E. Madeira Endoscopy Suite within the Ambulatory Care Unit.
After your surgery or procedure, the experienced staff in our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) monitor you closely during your recovery. If your surgery requires a hospital stay, you'll be transferred to a room in our Medical/Surgical/Pediatric Inpatient Unit after your initial recovery. If you are having one-day outpatient surgery, you will be discharged to return home, but must have an adult to drive you home. It is also strongly recommended that an adult remain at home with you for 24 hours after your surgery.
