Northeastern Connecticut Healthcare Credit Union Celebrates 50 Years, Awards 2015 Scholarships

The Board of Directors and members of Northeastern Connecticut Healthcare Credit Union, Inc. (NCHCCU) celebrated a special milestone when they gathered for their annual meeting on April 29 and marked the credit union’s 50^th anniversary. NCHCCU, a $10 million credit union with more than 1,900 members, has been providing a full range of banking services to healthcare employees of Northeastern Connecticut and their families since 1965.

Recipients of NCHCCU’s Bernard F. Smith Memorial Scholarship were also named at the event. The credit union awards $5,000 in funds each year through the scholarship to members (or children of members) who are pursuing higher education in healthcare or finance. The 2015 Bernard F. Smith Memorial Scholarship recipients are: Jennifer Adams of Danielson, CT, Judith Chatelle of Danielson, CT, Kayla Charette of Glocester, RI, Cynthia Goldsnider of Chaplin, CT, Charles Hall of Woodstock, CT, Melinda Malboeuf of Danielson, CT, Margaret Thienel of Woodstock, CT and William Walsh of Putnam, CT.

Among those who gathered to celebrate the 50^th anniversary and the awarding of the scholarships were (pictured at top from l. to r.): Thomas Harney, QVCC Foundation president, Jill Nowacki, President/CEO of The Credit Union League of Connecticut, Jane Desrosiers, President of the Board of Directors of the Northeastern Connecticut Healthcare Credit Union, Mary Ellen O’Neill, Division Director, Connecticut State Department of Banking, and Betti Kuszaj, Executive Director of the Northeastern Connecticut Chamber of Commerce.
