Cryoablation of Prostate and Kidney
Cryoablation, also called cryosurgery or cryotherapy, is a relatively new but very promising form of treatment for certain cancers. It involves freezing cancer cells to destroy them. For people with small or recurrent cancerous tumors of the prostate or kidney, cryoablation may offer a minimally invasive treatment that is as effective as traditional surgery, but with a lesser risk of complications and a quicker recovery. During the procedure, very thin probes containing freezing gas are inserted directly into the tumor until an ice ball forms around the mass, destroying the cancer cells.

Cystoscopy
Cystoscopy is a procedure used to view or treat problems in the bladder and / or urethra. A cystoscope is a thin lighted instrument with a tiny camera. Your doctor can use the cystoscope to examine the bladder and urethra for abnormalities. Tiny instruments can also be placed through the cystoscope to perform treatment procedures such as tissue sampling, placement of a ureter catheter to aid in urine flow, or removal of foreign objects, tumors, or stones. The procedure may be done under local, spinal or general anesthesia.

Incontinence Surgery
A variety of conditions may cause incontinence that does not respond to behavioral changes or medication. In these cases, surgery can help to alleviate the condition. There are a variety of causes of incontinence. Our urologists and surgical team are highly skilled in the various surgical techniques available to treat these conditions. The specific procedure that is right for you will vary according to your specific condition and whether you are a man or a woman.

Laser Ablation of Prostate
Laser ablation may be used to treat men suffering from an enlarged prostate. The minimally invasive procedure involves using a high-energy laser to shrink or remove the excess prostate tissue around the urethra, to allow for normal urine flow.

Lithotripsy: Laser and Shockwave
Lithotripsy is a minimally invasive procedure used to destroy stones in the kidney, bladder and ureter. There are different methods of lithotripsy. The laser method uses a high-energy heat laser to destroy the stones, while the shockwave method uses high energy sound “shockwaves” to break up the stones into tiny pieces so that they can easily pass through the body.

Sling Procedure
A sling procedure is performed to provide relief from urinary incontinence. It involves placing either tissues take from one’s own body or a synthetic mesh material around the urethra to provide additional support and keep it closed, preventing the leak of urine.

Ureteroscopy
Ureteroscopy is a procedure done to remove kidney stones. During the procedure, the urologist uses a ureteroscope (a thin viewing instrument) into the urethra and through the bladder and ureter to the location of the stones. Once there, the stones can either be surgically removed or destroyed using lithotripsy (see above).
