Day Kimball Healthcare Welcomes Thompson Resident as New Board Member

January 28, 2011

Karen Charbonneau, MBA, of Thompson is Day Kimball Healthcare’s newest board member.

PUTNAM, CT – John Miller, chairman of the Day Kimball Healthcare Board of Directors, announces that Karen Charbonneau is the newest member of the board of directors, replacing Daniel Rovero who retired from the board after serving 9 years. In this leadership role, Charbonneau joins 14 other board members in the oversight of Day Kimball’s short- and long-term strategic goals.

“I am pleased to join the energetic and forward-thinking group of individuals currently on Day Kimball’s Board of Directors who believe we must meet the healthcare needs of our community and ensure we provide the highest quality of services possible,” said Charbonneau. Born at Day Kimball Hospital, Charbonneau also noted she feels a connection to the organization and has enjoyed growing up as a friend and neighbor of Day Kimball using its services all her life.

Miller said, “I am excited to welcome Karen to our board. Her professional experience in the areas of finance and insurance brings a unique and valuable perspective into the boardroom as we continue to discuss the changing healthcare environment."

Charbonneau is currently the office manager at Premium Financing Specialists, Inc. and has over 27 years of progressive experience in managing areas such as accounting, administration, IT, billing, collections and customer service. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Nichols College. Charbonneau is the past chairman of the Thompson Board of Finance and serves on the Thompson Historical Society Board of Directors.

Many Day Kimball Healthcare board members become a part of sub-committees within the organization and Charbonneau recently joined the communications sub-committee. “I feel as though my past experiences have prepared me well and I hope to contribute in a meaningful way to every additional committee I join,” said Charbonneau.

Charbonneau, who resides in Thompson, enjoys the peace and tranquility of her town as well as its historical aspect, while cruising around in antique cars. She and her fiancé are planning a wedding in July.
