Day Kimball Healthcare’s 6th Annual Twilight in the Country Event

PUTNAM, CT – On Sunday, June 5, 2011, Day Kimball Healthcare will host the 6th Annual Twilight in the Country: a Dinner Stroll and Concert at Greystone Farm in Thompson, CT. Musical interludes will feature musicians from Old Sturbridge Village and the American Band. The event also includes a house tour, hors d’oeuvres, a multi-course dinner stroll, wine cash bar and silent auction.

Twilight in the Country is a benefit for Day Kimball HomeCare, Day Kimball HomeMakers and Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Connecticut. Each of these agencies provides in-home care in the forms of skilled services, personal care and companionship, and compassionate end of life care. Each agency works together to ensure that safe and high-quality care is provided for each client. Proceeds from this event assist clients and their families within our community who need financial assistance in order to receive these essential services. Over the past five years, hundreds of guests have attended Twilight in the Country, raising more than $137,000.

The festivities begin at 5:00 p.m. and admission is $75 per person. During the stroll of picturesque Greystone Farm, guests will sample hors d’oeuvres and listen to period music performed by a duo of musicians from Old Sturbridge Village and vie for choice items featured in the Silent Auction. The multi-course dinner will feature small-plate stations followed by dessert. Finally, the American Band, which was founded in 1837 and enlisted as a unit in the Civil War, will perform an orchestral concert including traditional and contemporary works including those by Leonard Bernstein, George and Ira Gershwin, Elton John, Charles Strouse and Lee Adams and their trademark Finale, Stars and Stripes Forever, by John Philip Sousa.

The estate is owned by Robert and Susan Vincent who spent two years renovating the 1745 homestead and 19th century barns. The American Band will play in the rescued 1845 Alice Ramsdell Barn. The barn and part of the house were salvaged from the former Ramsdell Farm on the banks of the now Thompson Reservoir. The Vincent’s so generously donate use of this magnificent property, which is the perfect stage for an unforgettable evening of delights.
