May 8, 2013
PUTNAM, CONN. – On Sunday, June 2, 2013, Day Kimball Healthcare will host the 8th Annual Twilight in the Country: Dinner and Auction, at Roseland Cottage in Woodstock, Conn. Pre-dinner music will be provided by Jared Trudeau and the evening includes a house tour by costumed guides, hors d’oeuvres, a gourmet grilled dinner, wine and beer, and silent auction.
Twilight in the Country is a benefit for Day Kimball HomeCare, Day Kimball HomeMakers and Hospice & Palliative Care of Northeastern Connecticut. Each of these agencies provides in-home care in the forms of skilled services, personal care and companionship, and compassionate end-of-life care. Each agency works together to ensure that safe and high-quality care is provided for each client. Proceeds from this event assist clients and their families within our community who need financial assistance in order to receive these essential services. Over the past seven years, hundreds of guests have attended Twilight in the Country, raising more than a quarter of a million dollars.
The festivities begin at 4:00 p.m. and admission is $85 per person. Some exclusive auction items this year include a Tanglewood Prairie Home Companion package, Red Sox and Bruins tickets, a lobster cruise on the Mystic Whaler, a weekend at the Stowe Mountain Resort in Vermont and many more items.
The gourmet grilled dinner by Mack’s Catering will feature choices including tenderloin, chicken, salmon and shrimp, followed by delectable desserts by Victoria’s Station Café.
The summer home of Henry and Lucy Bowen, Roseland Cottage is prominently situated across from the town common and epitomizes Gothic Revival architecture. The estate includes an ice house, aviary, carriage barn and the nation's oldest surviving indoor bowling alley as well as picturesque landscaping featuring the original boxwood-edged parterre garden.
