Day Kimball Hospital Receives Awards for Organ and Tissue Donation Efforts
September 15, 2014
Day Kimball Hospital, part of the Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH) integrated system, was recognized by LifeChoice Donor Services for their “leadership, commitment and dedication to saving lives every day,” which resulted in exceptional tissue donation rates for 2013.
In addition to maintaining a 100 percent referral rate to LifeChoice for the fourth year in a row, the hospital had a 57 percent tissue conversion rate for 2013, meaning that of all individuals eligible to donate, 57 percent actually donated. This rate is up 7 percent from last year and is well above LifeChoice’s overall hospital participant rate of 37 percent.
The Hospital was also awarded Silver Level recognition from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) for its participation in the Workplace Partnership for Life Hospital Campaign, a tissue and organ donor registry campaign initiative. Of the 1,228 hospitals participating in the campaign nationally, Day Kimball Hospital is one of 400 to earn recognition for its efforts.
