PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: Important Messages from Day Kimball Healthcare -- Update

Power has resumed in many of our healthcare centers and doctor’s offices, therefore the following is an update about where patients will be seen:

  • Northeast Connecticut Dermatology located at the Danielson Healthcare Center is open and now seeing patients in their office.
  • Diagnostic Imaging and Blood Draw Services at the Danielson Healthcare Center are open and now seeing patients in their offices.
  • The Pediatric Center at the Plainfield Healthcare Center’s Dow Road building is open and now being seen in their office. However, patients who do not get this message today will still be seen in Putnam should they arrive at that office.
  • Patients of Brooklyn Family Medical Associates are being seen at the Adult Primary Care practice located at the Plainfield Healthcare Center’s Lathrop Road building.
  • Patients of Danielson Medical Associates reopened at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday and are now seeing patients in their office.
  • Patients of Canterbury Family Medical Associates are being seen at the Thompson Family Medical Associates or the new Walk-In Center located in the Plainfield Healthcare Center’s Lathrop Road building.
  • For residents throughout the community, especially in the Plainfield, Sterling and Canterbury area, if you need medical attention and cannot reach your primary care physician’s office, the new Walk-In Center located in the Plainfield Healthcare Center’s Lathrop Road building is open six days per week and can take care many urgent medical matters.
  • Important to note – our practices are open and available to patient care even though patients may be directed to a different location.
  • For patients needing addresses of the practices where they will be seen, please call (860) 928-6541.

Due to power outages throughout Northeast Connecticut, some of our healthcare centers and doctor’s offices are advising patients of temporary changes to visit locations. These changes remain in effect until further notice:

  • Northeast Connecticut Dermatology located at the Danielson Healthcare Center will see patients at Woodstock Medical Associates.
  • Diagnostic Imaging and Blood Draw Services at the Danielson Healthcare Center are being redirected to the Plainfield Healthcare Center’s new Lathrop Road building or Day Kimball Hospital.
  • Pediatric patients at the Plainfield Healthcare Center’s Dow Road building are being seen at the Putnam Pediatric Center or the new Walk-In Center located in the Plainfield Healthcare Center’s Lathrop Road building.
  • Patients of Brooklyn Family Medical Associates are being seen at the Adult Primary Care practice located at the Plainfield Healthcare Center’s Lathrop Road building.
  • Patients of Danielson Medical Associates are being seen at the Medical Center of Northeast Connecticut in Dayville.

Due to the hurricane expected to hit Connecticut on Sunday, Day Kimball Healthcare teams are making preparations to ensure the safety of our patients, staff and visitors. Below is a list of important information:

  • The DKH Give it a TRI Triathlon event starting at Moosup Pond in Plainfield has been moved up a day to SATURDAY, AUGUST 27, 2011. The start time remains at 8:00 a.m. Please click here for more information about this event.
  • The Day Kimball Hospital Emergency Department will remain open and all Inpatient care will continue to be covered.
  • The Laboratory located at Day Kimball Hospital will be open during its regular hours (Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 12 noon and reopens as usual Monday at 7:00 a.m.).
  • Pre-scheduled outpatient appointments on Sunday have been rescheduled.
  • All community groups scheduled to meet at Day Kimball Hospital on Sunday, August 28, 2011 have been cancelled. This includes AA.
  • We plan to have all services and practices open as usual on Monday, August 29, 2011. However, since the damage from the storm is unknown at this time we are advising the following to the public: 
    • For patient appointments scheduled for Monday, including surgical and endoscopic procedures at Day Kimball Hospital, please first call ahead to the physician's office, diagnostic services department or other department before leaving your home to ensure that the office/ department will be open.

  • Please note that Day Kimball Hospital is not an emergency shelter. If you need a shelter you should find the closest one provided by your town.
