Jamie Vega Named Employee of the Month at Day Kimball Healthcare

April 30, 2014

PUTNAM, CONN. – Jamie Vega has been named employee of the month for April at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH). She is lead switchboard operator at Day Kimball Hospital, which is part of the DKH integrated healthcare system.

“Jamie is the perfect person to fill the Day Kimball switchboard position,” said Melissa Greene, patient access manager at Day Kimball Hospital. “She understands the needs of the hospital, and is able to transfer hundreds of calls throughout the healthcare system with ease. Jamie greets everyone with a ‘huge smile.’  She is the new voice of Day Kimball and is much deserving of our April Employee of the Month.”

In her capacity as lead switchboard operator, Vega is responsible for the efficient handling and forwarding of all telephone calls that come into the hospital via the main switchboard, which includes emergency pages. In addition, she monitors all security, fire and maintenance emergency alarms, among other duties.

“I am flattered,” said Vega, when asked about her feelings on being named employee of the month. “I truly love my job. I enjoy helping people and I love being in direct contact with the community on a daily basis.”

Vega joined DKH in 2007 as a part-time medical records clerk, moving to the switchboard operator position in 2011. Prior to her DKH employment, she spent eight years as a switchboard operator/customer service representative at a plastic injection molding company.

Vega currently resides in Putnam, where she has lived for over 20 years. She is married to Eddie Vega; they have one daughter. She is a graduate of the Connecticut Job Corps Center in New Haven, where she also earned a Business Clerical Certificate.
