Julie Hewey Named Employee of the Month at Day Kimball Healthcare

Julie Hewey, RN, COHN, Day Kimball Healthcare, is the organization’s January Employee of the Month.

PUTNAM, CONN. – Julie Hewey, RN, COHN, has been named employee of the month for January at Day Kimball Healthcare. She is the organization’s employee health coordinator.

“Julie is dedicated, detailed, compassionate, and has sound clinical judgment,” said Sharon Sawyer, system director of quality, risk management and security, at Day Kimball Healthcare. “Employees actually enjoy going to Employee Health because of Julie. She has an infectious smile, and she provides great customer service as she demonstrates excellent follow-up and follow-through. Sensitive to preserving employee privacy, Julie is loyal and committed to her position and our employees.”

Hewey began her nursing career with Day Kimball in 1982 and then in 1994 worked for Putnam Medical Associates for several years before returning to Day Kimball in 2002. As employee health coordinator, Hewey runs day-to-day operations of the organization’s Employee Health Department. She provides a variety of health services to ensure employees are functioning in optimal physical conditions and are physically suited for their positions. As part of her responsibilities, Hewey manages the workers compensation program, provides pre-placement health screenings, immunizations, medical surveillance, and return-to-work services to employees.

“This recognition was unexpected as I know of so many great employees throughout this organization,” said Hewey. “This position is challenging, as every day is completely different. And, I really enjoy helping my ‘patients,’ who are fellow employees and simply a great group of people.”

Hewey is a certified occupational health nurse, and lives in Dudley, Massachusetts.
