Mary Ann Skarani Named Employee of the Month at Day Kimball Healthcare

PUTNAM, CONN. – Mary Ann Skarani has been named employee of the month for March at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH). She is the primary therapist at Day Kimball Hospital, which is part of the DKH integrated healthcare system.“Over the past few months, we have been short staffed and Mary Ann has been instrumental in keeping individual therapy services going in the inpatient unit,” said Caitlin Adams, lead social worker, Day Kimball Hospital. “She has been a great team player and has been incredibly helpful in ensuring that patients continue to receive top-notch care. Mary Ann has really helped to hold the unit together.”
As primary therapist, Skarani orchestrates a collaborative, interdisciplinary process that coordinates, monitors and provides individualized behavioral health services throughout a patient’s – whether adolescent or adult – inpatient treatment. Her responsibilities include providing comprehensive, psychosocial assessments of patients and their families.
When asked about being named DKH employee of the month, Skarani stated: “I am honored and appreciative to have been recommended by my peers. I work with a supportive and professional team of individuals who embrace and advocate for the global well-being of DKH patients.
Skarani earned a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in special education, from Clarion University in Pennsylvania. She also has a Master of Arts in counseling and C.A.G.S. in counseling psychology from Anna Maria College in Massachusetts. Previously honored by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation, Skarani is a former hospice group facilitator.
A resident of Southbridge, Mass., and member of St. Nicholas Albanian Church, Skarani and her spouse of 27 years Albert, have four children.
