Melissa Greene Named Employee of the Month at Day Kimball Healthcare
September 30, 2014
Melissa Green, patient access manager, has been named employee of the month for September at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH).
Greene, who is responsible for training and supervising the patient access staff as well as scheduling, pre-certification and registration processes, also focuses on compliance and staff compliance training.
“The department of patient access is one of the most critical yet under-recognized areas of the hospital. A key role of the staff is to collect all the necessary patient demographic and insurance information to ensure not only accurate payment for services, but also to ensure medical information from services is routed to the appropriate people on the patient’s care team. This means it needs to happen in an expedited fashion, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, all while trying to maintain a high level of customer service,” said Sarah Ginnetti, DKH director of revenue cycle. “Melissa is the engine behind all of those moving parts, and she does so with persistence that is not only admirable, but rare. Her complete commitment to this organization and her department is something to be recognized.”
Greene joined DKH more than 15 years ago as a collector, moving next to the admitting department before being promoted to patient access manager in 2005. When informed of being named DKH’s employee of the month, Greene stated that the recognition was an “honor.” “I always try to be a dedicated employee,” she said.
Born and raised in Norwich, Greene moved to Northeast Connecticut in 1997 and now resides in Killingly with her husband, Don.
