PUTNAM, CONNECTICUT – Day Kimball Healthcare announces that Anne Alves, secretary from the medical-surgical department, is Day Kimball’s July Employee of the Month.

“Anne is an invaluable employee,” said Debra Douglas, director of acute care, case management and education. “She enthusiastically takes on additional tasks, and is thorough and concise with her work. She consistently earns recognition from her peers, physicians, patients and families for her kindness and ‘can-do’ attitude.”

Alves began her career at Day Kimball 22 years ago, starting in the emergency department as a unit receptionist. For seventeen years she has worked in the medical-surgical department as a UR/PCT, which she still performs on a per diem basis. She assumed the secretarial position for the department in October 2009. In her role, she provides administrative and clerical support for the director of acute care. She processes employee evaluations, schedules meetings and conferences, verifies timecards, generates requisitions for ordering/repairing equipment and office materials, and assists in other various tasks including revisions to multiple Day Kimball policy manuals.

Alves stated, “I feel honored to be recognized among my peers, especially knowing how many employees are so deserving of this award.” She continued, “Working in a clinical setting and providing secretarial support allows me to meet with and work with so many individuals at all levels of the corporate structure as well as patients. I truly enjoy that.”

Alves earned an Executive Secretarial Associates Degree from Becker Jr. College and became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) after attending Quinebaug Valley Community College’s CNA program. She is a Eucharistic Minister and substitute Adorer and is involved with the Crossroads Youth Group. For ten years she taught religious education to second graders at St. Joseph’s parish in North Grosvenordale, Connecticut.

Originally from Putnam, Connecticut, Alves resides in North Grosvenordale, Connecticut with her husband Gary and children Danielle, Laura and Christopher.
