Patricia McLaughlin Named Employee of the Month at Day Kimball Healthcare

Patricia A. McLaughlin, RN, Day Kimball Healthcare, is the organization’s February Employee of the Month.

PUTNAM, CONN. – Patricia A. McLaughlin, RN, has been named employee of the month for February at Day Kimball Healthcare (DKH). She is a clinical coordinator in the emergency department at Day Kimball Hospital, which is part of the DKH integrated medical system.

“Pat exemplifies the true character strengths of a great leader. Pat is an exceptional RN, gifted communicator, intelligent, organized, thoughtful, and calm under great pressure. Day Kimball Healthcare, our Emergency Department, and I are blessed to count her as a member of our hospital family and community,” said Ralph Miro, RN, CEN, MPH, EMT-P, director of nursing and EMS coordinator for the hospital’s emergency department. He continued, “Pat’s ability and grace shines through while demonstrating compassion for patients and her fellow nurses, which makes her more than deserving of this distinction.”

McLaughlin began her career with DKH in 1991 in the medical/surgical telemetry unit. During her over two-decade tenure, she crossed trained in various departments such as intensive care and psychology, as well as the emergency department, where she ultimately transferred permanently. In her current position as clinical coordinator, McLaughlin is responsible for the facilitation and maintenance of quality care among the nursing staff; delegation of responsibilities; serving as patient and staff advocate; providing open lines of communications among management, staff and patients; practicing sound fiscal management; and assuring that policies and procedures are supported, and changed if warranted. In addition to her responsibilities at Day Kimball Hospital, McLaughlin also works multiple days each month in the emergency department at Saint Vincent’s Hospital in Worcester.

When asked how she felt being named DKH’s employee of the month for February, McLaughlin stated, “I am proud to be chosen. I enjoy being a nurse; caring and helping patients whether they are critically sick or not. I also take pride in helping the new nurses learn and grow in their positions.”

McLaughlin graduated from Boston Business School with a degree in accounting. She earned an Associate Degree in nursing from Quinsigamond Community College and a Bachelor Degree in nursing from Worcester State University. McLaughlin and her husband, Kevin, reside in Webster, Massachusetts. They are parents of three sons, two daughters-in-law and have one granddaughter.
