History of the Event and NECT Cancer Fund
This Walk and Race for the NECT Cancer Fund springs from a long history - the former annual Deary Memorial Race, Walk and Ride, which was one of Day Kimball Healthcare's and Northeast Connecticut's most popular events for more than 25 years. Over the years, the event has raised more than $1.2 million and all the money remained local, just as it does today.
Proceeds from the Walk & Race benefit the Northeast Connecticut Cancer Fund of DKH, which provides residents of Northeast Connecticut who are fighting cancer with financial assistance for their medical care. Additional fundraising activities to support the Fund include the Cruisin' for Cancer Care Guest Bartender Night, Cruisin' for Cancer Care Motorcycle and Classic Car Cruise, NECT Cancer Fund Wine Tasting, and Scoops Night.
Through these events, the Northeast Connecticut community comes together to remember, celebrate and honor those who have battled cancer, while supporting those who are fighting their own battle now. It is in this way that the Northeast Connecticut Cancer Fund of DKH is able to change lives.
